There are indications to suggest that populations of black bears are increasing and expanding in east-central and northeastern Oklahoma. Our objectives are to assess the status and distribution of black bears in east-central and northeastern Oklahoma, which will permit appropriate management of this growing resource. Black bear currently can be hunted in 4 counties in southestern Oklahoma; insight on the staus of black bear elsewhere may permit incrasing hunting opportunities.
