In 1991, the imperiled robust redhorse was discovered in the Oconee River. Initially, nothing was known about this species but research conducted for the past eight years has answered many questions about the biology and ecology of these fish. Many questions remain including: 1) the fate of wild-spawned larvae and hatchery-produced juveniles, 2) their eventual contribution to the adult population, 3) dispersal behavior, habitat use and movement patterns of hatchery-reared juvenile redhorse 4) where and when to release hatchery-reared fish Information that we receive from this study will provide data to ongoing efforts to restore this species too much of its historic range.
