OBJECTIVE: Researchers will conduct surveys alongside refuge staff during different tidal stages during the breeding season and then estimate detection probability during each survey. This project will provide needed information that will improve survey protocols that are being used by refuges across the country for a group of birds that has been largely neglected. The data produced will also be pooled with the national database for use by refuge staff across the country.
