Biography

Alan joined the Louisiana Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit in 1988, where he is an Assistant Leader-Wildlife and an Adjunct Professor in the School of Renewable Natural Resources. From 1983-88, he worked as a Research Scientist in the Waterfowl and Wetlands Research Group of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, located in Bemidji, MN.. Alan's research expertise and interests are avian behavioral ecology and bioenergetics, with a focus on waterfowl ecology and evaluation of wetland management techniques. He also has interests and expertise in evaluating effects of new hunting technologies on waterfowl harvest.. Alan has taught graduate courses in waterfowl ecology and avian nutrition at LSU, and currently teaches a graduate course in behavioral ecology.
