  • Cooperative Research Unit Program

(1) Determine present and future carrying capacity of swan habitat within Northwestern Washington (WDFW Region 4). (2) Determine the sources of lead poisoning of swans in Skagit and Snohomish Counties. (3) Develop management recommendations for ensuring adequate habitat for wintering swans while minimizing impacts to agricultural lands. The proposed research would be conducted within the context of continued hazing of swans from Judson Lake or remediation of existing lead shot contamination within the lake.
