Wildlife management on Department of Defense Lands is often hampered by a lack of data on specific wildlife species. The goal of our study is to provide information on basic life history and ecological attributes of mountain lions occupying Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico. Our specific objectives are to: 1) determine mountain lion territory locations, home range and areas and dens sites; 2) identify puma kill sites and determine prey composition; 3) estimate survival and determine cause-specific mortality; and 4) develop resource selection models for mountain lions on Kirtland AFB.
