Lake Huron and the adjacent wetlands are incredibly important areas for migrating shorebirds.

The Michigan Fish and Wildlife Cooperative Research Unit is created by an enthusiastic and synergistic combination of cooperators including Michigan State University, Michigan Department of Natural Resources, United States Fish and Wildlife Service, Wildlife Management Institute, and the United States Geological Survey.
