Biography

I have a broad interest in the ecology and life history of marine and aquatic organisms, animal behavior, fisheries management, and conservation biology. The over-riding goals of my research are to quantify the functional role of organisms in marine and aquatic ecosystems, and investigate how anthropogenic stressors including exploitation, pollution, and climate change, impact species interactions and habitat use. . My primary teaching interests are field and laboratory-oriented courses in fisheries ecology, environmental science, and conservation biology. Previous courses and lectures include: BIOL 542 Ichthyology: Quantifying trophic interactions among marine organisms. Guest lecturer. University of Massachusetts Amherst WFCON 470 Ecology of Fish: Climate change and the effects on fish populations. Guest lecturer. University of Massachusetts Amherst BIOL 497 Tropical Field Biology. Co-instructor. University of Massachusetts Amherst Coastal Ecology Program at the Marine Conservation Center. Ward Melville Heritage Organization MAR 385 Fish Ecology: Indirect effects of fishing. Guest lecturer. Stony Brook University BIO 150 Introduction to Biology. Teaching Assistant. Stony Brook University
