Biography

The Florida Unit coordinates an interdisciplinary research program using a small, autonomous unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) for ecological research. Current applications include wildlife surveys, habitat classification, and invasive species detection. Applications to be developed are marine debris monitoring, near-shore current modeling, and other uses in agriculture, forestry, and ecological restoration. . restoration ecology, ecological resilience, and adaptive management, with previous experience in reproductive ecology of Florida alligators, fire and mechanical disturbance in Florida ecosystems, and agroforestry extension in sub-Saharan West Africa.
