Biography

I participated in research on the population dynamics and foraging ecology of Double-crested Cormorants on Lake Champlain from 2001-2007. As part of this research, I developed models to project changes in the cormorant population expected from management intended to reduce population sizes. The primary focus was to capture unintended consequences of management and incorporate these consequences into the management decision framework. Portions of this research were incorporated into my doctoral research at the University of Vermont.

My focus at The Center for Conservation Biology is the ecology of waterbirds in the Chesapeake Bay and mid-Atlantic region. My goal is to expand the research program of The Center and provide data that can be applied to conservation of waterbirds regionally, nationally, and internationally.
