Biography

I am an ecologist with the Center for Applied Spatial Ecology associated with the New Mexico Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit (NMCFWRU) and the Department of Fish, Wildlife and Conservation Ecology at New Mexico State University. . My research interests included Southwest riparian ecosystems, amphibians and reptiles, and spatial ecology. My work has been focused on deductive and inductive habitat modeling, the ecological role of fire within southwestern ecosystems, desert spring ecology, and projects focusing on ecological context, conservation, ecosystem services, alternative futures, and biodiversity. . I am soft-money funded and my focus in on sponsor funded research. However, I also teach various courses such as GIS for Natural Resource Scientists, Herpetology, Principles of Fish and Wildlife Management, and Senior Seminar. I also teach special topics and research problems courses on directed topics such as applied spatial ecology, ecosystem services, and southwestern plant communities.
