Rachael grew up in Nashville, Tennessee and earned a Bachelor's degree in Wildlife, Fisheries, and Aquaculture from Mississippi State University in 2021. After graduation she worked as a white sturgeon fisheries technician for Idaho Department of Fish and Game on the Kootenai River in north Idaho. Rachael began working at Tennessee Tech in 2022 studying invasive carps in the Tennessee and Cumberland River Valleys. ​​​​
