Biography

I grew up outside Chicago. I went to college in Vermont and worked on various field crews out west, so my average location was still Chicago, more or less. When I'm not hard at work answering ecological questions, I enjoy mountain biking, snowboarding, and creative writing. . My current research focuses on community resiliency in the context of climate change. Small mammals are the study taxa for this project, and I am using a combination of trapping, vegetation surveys, GIS, and stable isotope analysis to answer my questions. Broadly speaking, my interests are conservation biology and landscape ecology. I am interested in understanding the effects of widespread and increasing human pressure on the natural world, and how individual populations and ecological processes can persist despite that pressure.
