The herb stratum is dominated by Sporobolus giganteus, with Calamovilfa gigantea, Andropogon hallii, Panicum havardii, and Paspalum setaceum also present and locally common. This community is influenced by the processes of dune formation, migration, and stabilization; it is favored by disturbance, while more stabilized areas are dominated by Prosopis glandulosa var. glandulosa and Artemisia filifolia.
