Type Concept Sentence: No Data Available

Common (Translated Scientific) Name: Smooth Beggarticks - Floating Marsh-pennywort Floating Marsh

Colloquial Name: Native Floating Marsh

Hierarchy Level:  Association

Type Concept: This vegetation occurs in shallow water of openings in native fresh to oligohaline marshes, in areas that are not dominated by rooted perennial herbaceous vegetation. Species that may have moderate cover include Amaranthus australis, Azolla caroliniana, Bidens laevis, Hydrocotyle ranunculoides, Hydrocotyle umbellata, Lemna obscura, Ludwigia leptocarpa, Nymphaea odorata, Polygonum hydropiperoides, Sagittaria lancifolia, Sagittaria latifolia, Symphyotrichum subulatum, and Vigna luteola. The non-natives Eichhornia crassipes and Alternanthera philoxeroides, as well as the possibly non-native Ludwigia peploides, may be present but are not dominant. Better documentation and description of this community at Jean Lafitte National Park (Louisiana) are needed. This type is more native-dominated than ~Eichhornia crassipes Southeast Temperate Ruderal Aquatic Vegetation (CEGL007671)$$. Examples contain a mixture of native and exotic species, and are more diverse than CEGL007671.
