Type Concept Sentence: No Data Available
Common (Translated Scientific) Name: Alpine Timothy - Small-wing Sedge Wet Meadow
Colloquial Name: No Data Available
Hierarchy Level: Association
Type Concept: This herbaceous vegetation type has been described from wetlands on the Yellowstone Plateau of northwestern Wyoming. It occupies mesic, fine- to coarse-textured, mineral soils on flats and low ridges. The herbaceous vegetation may contain a variety of graminoids and forbs. Carex microptera, Phleum alpinum, Deschampsia cespitosa, Trisetum wolfii, and Symphyotrichum foliaceum are always present, and a number of other species may be abundant, including Antennaria corymbosa, Potentilla diversifolia, and Epilobium ciliatum ssp. glandulosum.
Diagnostic Characteristics: No Data Available
Rationale for Nominal Species or Physiognomic Features: No Data Available
Classification Comments: This association is a based on a description, without plot data, from the Phleum alpinum - Carex microptera habitat type on the Yellowstone Plateau (Mattson 1984). A number of the species with high constancy and often substantial cover in this type also have high constancy and may be abundant in ~Phleum alpinum - Carex aquatilis Wet Meadow (CEGL001921)$$ and ~Phleum alpinum - Elymus trachycaulus Meadow (CEGL001923)$$. All of these associations have also been described from mesic or subirrigated habitat types on the Yellowstone Plateau. The status of these 3 vegetation types as separate associations or as variants of the same association must be determined.
