Floristics: Characteristic species observed in southern Alabama include Fuirena scirpoidea, Panicum tenerum, Dichanthelium wrightianum, and Andropogon capillipes (M. Pyne pers. obs., A. Weakley pers. obs.). Some Mississippi data include Fuirena scirpoidea, Dichanthelium sabulorum, and Euthamia leptocephala as components of the "Barrier Island Mesic/Dry Meadow" (Wieland 2000b), which seems to be apparently related. For the time being, this is accommodated in this type.
