A single plot at Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge was reported on the valley floor at 960 m (3160 feet) elevation. Sites are gently sloping. Substrate is well-drained clay. Cover of bare ground is relatively high in sampled stand (60%). The open to moderately dense herbaceous layer is dominated by perennial midgrass Bothriochloa barbinodis with Sporobolus cryptandrus prominent. Scattered shrubs Prosopis velutina and Lycium spp. may be present in low cover. Other species present in low cover include Urochloa arizonica, Chloris virgata, Digitaria californica, Echinopepon wrightii, Eriochloa acuminata, Eriochloa lemmonii, and Panicum hirticaule var. stramineum. Exotic grasses Eragrostis curvula and Eragrostis cilianensis are present in the one stand sampled.
