Floristics: This type is dominated by Quercus nigra, Quercus geminata, Lyonia ferruginea, and Symplocos tinctoria in the canopy and tall-shrub strata. Serenoa repens is the dominant low shrub. Other shrubs include Vaccinium stamineum, Ilex opaca, Lyonia lucida, Ditrysinia fruticosa (= Sebastiania fruticosa), Gaylussacia dumosa, Vaccinium arboreum, and Diospyros virginiana. There are additionally a number of more typical wetland shrubs at low cover values, including Cyrilla racemiflora, Ilex coriacea, Persea palustris, Ilex glabra, and Eubotrys racemosa (= Leucothoe racemosa). Nyssa ogeche and Liquidambar styraciflua are also present in the canopy.
