Type Concept: These open grasslands with scattered xeromorphic desert shrubs, mainly Acacia neovernicosa, occur below 1200 m (4000 feet) elevation, on slopes, in the Chihuahuan Desert of New Mexico, Texas and possibly northern Mexico. Other shrubs may be Larrea tridentata, Parthenium incanum, Prosopis glandulosa, and Flourensia cernua. Typical grasses are Pleuraphis mutica, Sporobolus spp., and Bouteloua spp.
