Type Concept: This association has been described as a minor vegetation type in the alpine zone on the western side of the Wind River Mountains in west-central Wyoming. It occurs on slopes of various aspects, in positions protected from the full force of the wind, often next to ~Deschampsia cespitosa - Geum rossii Wet Meadow (CEGL001884)$$. Forbs account for most of the canopy cover in the vegetation, with Geum rossii var. turbinatum, Antennaria media, and Potentilla diversifolia the common species. Carex albonigra is the most common graminoid, and Festuca brachyphylla and Carex saxatilis may contribute substantially to the graminoid component. Salix petrophila and Selaginella densa may be common.

Rationale for Nominal Species or Physiognomic Features: No Data Available
Classification Comments: This association is based on two stands and a brief general description from the western side of Wyoming''s Wind River Mountains. Its species list resembles the species lists from other Geum rossii-dominated vegetation types, and the validity of this type as a separate association can be determined only after more thorough comparison of the types of Geum rossii vegetation. Information also is needed from more stands of this type.
