Lesser amounts of Tilia americana, Quercus alba, Quercus rubra, Liriodendron tulipifera, Fagus grandifolia, Nyssa sylvatica, and Carya ovata may also be found in the canopy. Shrubs include Hamamelis virginiana, Ostrya virginiana, Carpinus caroliniana, Lindera benzoin. The herbaceous layer may contain Toxicodendron radicans, Parthenocissus quinquefolia, Polystichum acrostichoides, Adiantum pedatum, Symplocarpus foetidus, Maianthemum racemosum ssp. racemosum, Trillium sp., and Aralia nudicaulis.
