Environmental Description:  This community occurs on the Fleming Formation of eastern Texas, on subcalcareous substrates (NatureServe Ecology unpubl. data). It is found on gentle mesic slopes adjacent to riparian areas along the southwestern periphery of the Upper West Gulf Coastal Plain, near the terminus of many typically southeastern species. Although the type is not temporarily flooded, the flora may be influenced by proximity to the creekside.

Geographic Range: This forest occurs in the Upper West Gulf Coastal Plain of eastern Texas.
