Tetradymia canescens is the dominant shrub with 20-40% cover. The shrub layer is usually diverse with combinations of Ephedra viridis, Quercus gambelii, Amelanchier utahensis, Ericameria nauseosa, Artemisia tridentata, Purshia tridentata, and Purshia stansburiana. Combined shrub cover is approximately 50%. Herbaceous cover is minimal and may consist of Bromus tectorum, Bouteloua gracilis, Muhlenbergia pungens, and Sporobolus cryptandrus. This association was observed during the Accuracy Assessment phase of the vegetation mapping project and needs more data collected to fully describe. This association occurs in sandy soils of slickrock basins on flat to moderate slopes with variable aspects. Elevation ranges 1707 to 1830 m (5600-6000 feet).
