Type Concept: This woodland association is currently only known from Yosemite National Park in California, and the following description is based on occurrences there. Additional information will be added as it becomes available. This association grows on stony sites with patches of sandy soil between boulders. The elevational range is between 3110 and 3475 m (10,200-11,400 feet). Aspects are west and slopes are moderate. This association is dominated by stunted Pinus albicaulis. Scattered individuals of Pinus contorta may be present. Forbs are scattered and sparse. Common forb associates include Lupinus lepidus, Eriogonum ovalifolium, Arenaria kingii, Penstemon davidsonii, and/or Castilleja nana. The graminoid species that may be present at low cover values include Poa glauca and Elymus elymoides.
