Compiled National List of Species of Greatest Conservation Need
Species on the national list are species listed in any one of the State Wildlife Action Plans whose identification could be confirmed in the Integrated Taxonomic Information System, an authority used by this tool to derive a common naming system for individual species across all states (allowing for a national look at individual species).
Species not on the national list are species whose identity could not be confirmed through the ITIS authority either because it has not yet been added to ITIS or due to a discrepancy between the naming of the species such as for distinct populations segments or subspecies designations by the state.
