Biography

Postdoctoral research associate at UVM since 2008. Employed at U.S. EPA for 15 years (pesticide and research offices) prior to entering Ph.D. program at University of Vermont (UVM).. Scott is interested in how landscape-level and local factors, both natural and human, interact to affect the distribution and dynamics of wildlife populations and in how scientific knowledge about these factors can be applied to conservation. Current research includes assessing the effects of forest management practices on biodiversity and other ecosystem services, predicting the effects of changes in climate and land use on wildlife of the northeastern United States, and developing models and maps of landbird occurrence in Vermont. . Scott's teaching interests include wildlife ecology, modeling, and conservation for both undergraduates and graduate students.
