Biography

Abdulai Barrie is a native from Sierra Leone, West Africa. He has worked on Biodiversity/wildlife conservation issues in Sierra Leone, Guinea, Liberia, Ghana, and Ivory Coast and is passionate about Wildlife conservation, EIAs and climate change issues in the Upper Guinea Forest region. Barrie is excited to be in Graduate school at the University of Maine after over a decade of field work, teaching and project management in biodiversity conservation. Prior to coming to the University of Maine, Barrie worked for Bumbuna Hydroelectric Project in Sierra Leone for 9 years in various positions including as Acting Director of the Project and the Executive Director for the Bumbuna Watershed Management Authority. He also worked for a year in neighboring Liberia as Forest Projects Officer for International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). I hold a BSc. and MS degrees from Njala University, Sierra Leone in Applied Ecology and Environmental Biology respectively.
