Biography
I am from Kennesaw, GA where I grew up with my mom and older brother. I got my Bachelor's of Science and Forest Resources in wildlife management from the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources at the University of Georgia. I am most interested in studying nongame and endangered species management and conservation.. Monitoring bat populations has been of interest at Ft. Drum, NY since 2003 and has become more crucial since the onset of white-nose syndrome in 2006.The project at Ft. Drum focuses on acoustic monitoring of bats using Anabat technology. We hope to determine the most effective ways to monitor bats acoustically by comparing the detection probabilities of varying methods of Anabat use. We will also compare mist-net data with acoustic data to show which monitoring technique is ultimately most successful at detecting species. The results of this study may provide valuable information for the most efficient and effective monitoring techniques of bats as white-nose syndrome continues to spread.
