The objectives of this study are to (1) develop unbiased catfish sampling protocols using trotlines, low-frequency electrofishing, tandem hoop nets, or a combination of these three approaches; (2) assemble a statewide database on commercial and recreational harvest of catfish species and examine historical trends in terms of yield; (3) examine the response of catfish populations to different management scenarios; and (4) assess the potential for growth and recruitment overfishing in several Tennessee reservoirs.
