The Middle Rio Grande River has undergone substantial hydrologic, geomorphic and vegetative changes over the last few centuries. Reduced flows in the river due to water allocations and droughts further threaten avian communities in this system. This study will evaluate the effects of hydrologic, geomorphic, and vegetative conditions on avian communities and will provide quantitative information for a broader study that is focused on the development of a decision support tool to guide water allocation decisions in the Middle Rio Grande.
