Pine barren ecosystems of the Northeast are globally rare and little is know about the potentially unique ant communities that may be supported there. This study will describe the diversity of ant species inhabiting the pine barrens of New York and Massachusetts with the goal of shedding light on ant communities of sandy soils throughout the Northeast.
