Enormous effort and money have gone into restoring or creating artificial oyster reefs, but little is known about the effectiveness of these efforts as they relate to material used for building reefs. Unit scientists and collaborators are examining reefs created between 1 and 20 years ago using different materials to compare oyster populations, and fisheries use of these reefs.
