In this proposal, we braid together two important threads of forest management, one ecological and one social. First, we propose cutting-edge research linking deer behavior to forest health using an existing dataset collected in collaboration with the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation (hereafter CCT). Second, we describe an approach for incorporating traditional ecological knowledge, building tribal capacity, and fostering intergovernmental relations through this research.
