The influence of water quality on the health of Riparian bird communities in the desert southwest

Participating Agencies

(1) Monitor breeding bird populations in riparian woodlands at Tumacacori NHP and at nearby control study site (Cienega Creed) in order to compare avian survival and reproductive parameters between the two study sites; (2) document and compare the prevalence of lesions, bill abnormalities, and tumors in breeding bird populations between the two study sites, and (3) identify the underlying cause(s) of the observed bird deformities with Tumacacori NHP.
