The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has recently been assessing the success of habitat restoration projects that they have participated in throughout the Puget Sound region (Armbrust et al. 2008, 2009). One such site is the Site 1/Northwind's Weir restoration site, which was completed winter 2009-2010, and consists of 2.5 acres of created off-channel mudflat habitat with associated uplands. The goal of this project is to collect baseline data on initial post-construction biological conditions, in order to be able to make future evaluations of the success of the project in meeting its original stated goals.
