The overall goal of this project is to provide a prototype for species habitat modeling efforts at scales approximating the Western US and ultimately the entire U.S. Specific objectives of this research include: 1) Identify a suite of species for use in prototype analysis 2) Obtain species occurrence points from available datasets 3) Evaluation of species occurrence datasets obtained 4) Consolidate models by combining SWReGAP and NWGAP deductive models and include California when applicable 5) Identify, obtain and create biophysical envelop datasets for inductive modeling over the entire western US study area. 6) Conduct inductive modeling for selected species using Maximum Entropy when appropriate 7) Create and analyze data to provide Western US wide perspective on biodiversity 8) Provide data to agencies for application to conservation at region, state, and local scales.
