Basal Hollow Roost Selection project addresses a lack of information and roosting habitat for Townsend's big-eared bat (Corynorhinus townsendii, COTO) and other bat species identified as Species of Greatest Conservation Need in the California Department of Fish and Wildlife 2015 State Wildlife Action Plan. The purpose of this study is to determine the extent of use of basal hollows by COTO and other bat species and to provide land managers with specific criteria to identify and protect COTO roosting habitat.
