  • Ph D Texas Tech University 1991
  • MS Texas Tech University 1988
  • BS South Dakota State University 1986

Originally from Minnesota, I completed my degrees at South Dakota State University and Texas Tech University. From 1991 - 2011 I was the Regional Migratory Gamebird Specialist for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and adjunct professor at Texas Tech University.

Research Interests

My primary research is on wetlands, grasslands, and migratory birds of the Great Plains and Gulf Coast. I am most interested in the effects of changes in landuse on ecosystems at the landscape scale.

Teaching Interests

My teaching interests relate to linking ecological theory, applied conservation stratigies, and approaches for successful application of research results in a comprehensive treatment of current issues. I have taught a variety of courses including Natural Resource Policy, BioPolitics, Wetland Ecology, Waterfowl Ecology, among others.
