<procdesc>Following methodology developed by the Nature Conservancy in conjunction with the USGS/NPS Vegetation Mapping Program, an attempt was made to sample each vegetation association at least three times. Within sampled polygons, locations of plots suitable for vegetation description were selected based on the ability to collect information in the area that best represented the existing vegetation. The location of each plot was recorded with a Trimble Geoexplorer 2 global positioning system (GPS) unit in Connecticut State Plane Coordinates, with the datum set to North America 1983 (Conus). These data were re-projected to Universal Trans-Mercator (UTM) coordinate system for the final map.</procdesc>
