Large Oaks are scattered in the canopy - Quercus muhlenbergii and Quercus pagoda with scattered Liquidambar styraciflua. Juniperus virginiana occasionally reaches the canopy, but not enough to label stand at "mixed". Celtis and Morus occur sporadically in the subcanopy within stand. Ilex opaca is common in the subcanopy and tall shrub layer. Asimina is occasional . Herbs are very scattered - ground cover is leaf litter or dense vines of Parthenocissus, Campsis radicans, and Lonicera japonica. This stand is adjacent to pond and beaver browse is evident. Undoubtedly disturbed in the past but stand is unique for the Park.Open seepage wetland. Artificial wetland created by road and drainage ditch. Once part of Dancing Marsh but road berm now cuts it off from marsh and changes hydrology. An Acer rubrum - Liquidambar styraciflua canopy overhangs am open seasonally flooded wetland that receives runoff from cow pasture. This seep is a very narrow feature, perhaps 10 - 15 m wide. Adjacent slopes are Oak and Ilex opaca Forest .Sample is mostly deciduous with a couple of large Pinus taeda. Area surrounding sample includes Quercus pagoda, Quercus palustris, Quercus falcata, and more Quercus phellos and Quercus michauxii. Sample is Liquidambar styraciflua, Ilex opaca, and Pinus taeda. It has a tall canopy and well-developed subcanopy of Ilex opaca. There is no well developed shrub or herb layer. Ground strata is mostly devoid of herbs, although wet depressions in surrounding forest have local dominance of ferns (Thelypteris noveboracensis, Dennstaedtia punctilobula, Woodwardia virginica, Osmunda regalis.
