Orthorectified color infrared ERDAS Imagine and MRSid image of Bluestone National Scenic River (final_blue.img). Produced from 43 color infrared photos taken March 27, 2003. Orthorectification accomplished with Imagine Orthobase v8.6 software. The overall positional accuracy for the photomosaic is 1.31107 meters RMSE, meeting the NMAS Class 1 standards.
<purpose>The dataset was developed for use by Bluestone National Scenic River as a GIS component and for digital monoplotting and mapping.</purpose>

<horizpar>Overall positional accuracy of 1.31 meters RMSE
Horizontal accuracy was assessed on the basis of 147 field survey points distributed throughout New River Gorge National River, Bluestone National Scenic River Color, and Gauley River National Recreation Area. Accuracy assesment for the above three parks was calculated as a single unit (not split up into three separate groups) as they were all flown together with airborne gps and imu. The actual field coordinates for these points were recorded with a Trimble ProXRS GPS unit with real-time differential correction with a minimum of 120 (180 unless field conditions were poor) fixes per point. The field coordinates were then compared to the image mosaic coordinates for these points, determined in ESRI ArcView 3.3 software.</horizpar>

<procdesc>The photos (43 total) were used to create an orthorectified mosaic using ER Mapper 6.4 and Erdas Imagine 8.6. The photos were scanned at 600 dpi and imported into Imagine. A DTM was created from the block DTM extraction process in Erdas Imagine. The images were orthorectified using ERDAS Imagine Orthobase software and Airborne GPS and IMU data. The orthorectified images were then mosaiced within ER Mapper to form one seamless basemap image for Bluestone National Scenic River. The mosaic was compressed using Mr. SID software at a 1:20 target compression ratio.</procdesc>
