    <descript>
This administrative boundary for Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park (BLCA), Colorado contains 6 polygons showing National Park Service (NPS) lands, and private lands (3 parcels with conservation easements held by NPS with no public access, and 1 parcel without a conservation easement) that lie within the Park boundary outline.
      <purpose>To show the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park boundary. The intended use of all data in the park's GIS libraries is to support diverse park activities including planning, management, maintenance, research, and interpretation.</purpose>
      <supplinf>The Black Canyon of the Gunnison's unique and spectacular landscape was formed slowly by the action of water and rock scouring down through hard Proterozoic crystalline rock. No other canyon in North America combines the narrow opening, sheer walls, and startling depths offered by the Black Canyon of the Gunnison.</supplinf>

        <procdesc>The 1999 legislation boundary coverage arc vertices were adjusted to the arcs of the GCDB data (considered to be the most accurate data, representing 1/16th of a section) in those areas where they were slightly off of the GCDB lines. The boundary coverage was then built for topology in ArcEdit with the "build" command, and saved. The land status coverage was utilized for spatial reference. Scenic easement arcs were appended to the BLCA boundary with ArcEdit commands "Sel" and "Put". Corresponding attribute data were then filled in manually and verified against the original scenic easement data. The new BLCA boundary coverage was then built in ArcEdit and saved. Acres were then recalculated.</procdesc>
